Panaji: Bharat Mata Ki Jai Sangh led by former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingakar on Tuesday demanded that the history of Cuncolim freedom struggle be included in school textbooks. The demands of Cuncolim villagers to declare July 15 as Cuncolim Martyrs’ Day has been pending since last 12 years. Goa having completed 60 years of independence BMKJS convenor Subhash Velingkar has requested CM Pramod Sawant to declare July 15 as Cuncolim Martyr’s day. The Sangh has also demanded to make a film on Cuncolim freedom struggle and to make arrangements for expansion and beautification of the Mahanayak Hutatma Smarak (Martyr’s Monument) and its permanent maintenance.
Subhash Velingakar addressed the meeting by commemorating the Martyr’s Monument. Nitin Faldesai President of Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) extented full support to the Sangh by declaring that GSM would provide every help to take this movement further. Cuncolim Municipality’s ex chairperons Devendra Desai, Lativa Mascarehas and Angela Luis, Ex Vice Chairperson Polita Carneiro and Maria Moraes and others were present for the meeting.
