Panaji : Today the North And South district of Goa recorded a rather heavy rain/thundershowers that led to uprooting of trees causing damage to buildings. Many areas were flooded too. Power outages were also recorded
According to the Meteorological Department maximum rainfall was witnessed in Ela (Old Goa); Sanquelim; Canacona; Pernem; Mormugao; Quepem; Dabolim; Panaji; Mapusa; and Valpoi.
The Meteorological Department has further warned about Winds of speed 50-60 Kmph gusting to 70 Kmph which are likely along and off the coast of North Goa and South Goa on 17th May 2021.
Also, Heavy to very heavy rainfall is highly probable at isolated places on 17th May, in North and South Goa districts. However no weather warnings have been issued on May 18, 19 & 20.
