Porvorim: Recovery of a gun from a man at Porvorim by Crime Branch can be a sign of worry in this constituency, which is expected to witness multi corner political battle for upcoming Goa election.
Crime Branch arrested Krishna Savlo Naik, 32 for illegally possessing “one silver colour country made metal fire arm/pistol along with four live rounds of 7.65 caliber and one additional blackish colour mental empty magazine.”
He is booked under stringent Arms Act after Police Inspector Theron D’Costa filed a formal complaint with Crime Branch police station.
While seizure of fire arm is a cause of concern, it is more worrying since the election is nearing in the state. Goa will go for polls in February next year.
Porvorim constituency, represented by independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, is going to witness multi corner contest.
Khaunte had already claimed that the law and order situation in his constituency is stooping to low level.
Sources claimed that the accused arrested with fire arm is also a close associate of a former Sarpanch in this constituency. While there is no detailed links with the seizure to the Sarpanch, the police will investigate why this man was carrying pistole when he has never reported threat to his life in the past.
