Govt caps rates for Covid-19 patients in private hospitals

Panaji: With an aim to curb overcharging and exploitation, the Government of Goa on Monday issued a circular capping the rates for Covid-19 admission in private hospitals with ICU facilities.
The revised rates states the price for per day in the general ward with Covid charge as Rs 10,000, for twin sharing Rs 13,000 and for private room. The rate of ICU with ventilator occupancy has been capped at Rs 24,000 per day.
The package is inclusive of admission charges, primary and specialist consultant, bed charges, PPE kits for staff, dietarty charges and medicines including multivitamin, paracetamol, azythromycin among others.
However, the package does not include diagnostic interventions, special drugs, use of special equipment, surgery, and extra oxygen flow other than ICU, it stated.
