Panaji – The question which appeared in the english paper of SSC examination is a clear reflection of current situation in Goa under BJP regime of rising unemployment, lack of job opportunities, deteriorating standard of education and rising corruption, a senior congress functionary said.
“Government of Goa needs to introspect on prevailing condition of Education, Economy and Ethics rather than getting into political opportunism by connecting it to nationalism,” said GPCC General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar.
The duty of every teacher is to speak truth and teach students to remain honest, truthful and faithful throughout their career. There is a saying “Truth is always Bitter”. The truth which has come out in the question paper has created political inconvenience to the local BJP and hence they are trying to give it a different colour.
It is a reality that the faulty decisions of the BJP government since 2012 has pushed Goa into financial emergency with loss of jobs, fall in educational standard and growing cases of corruption. The government should take lesson from this episode and take corrective steps, failing which the next generations will never ever forgive the BJP government.
The OCI card holders and those working abroad are contributing to the economy and foreign exchange earnings of the State. I condemn the act of calling them anti-nationals or people with portuguese mindsets. It is out of no other option that our Goan brethern are compelled to opt for Portuguese passports as there are no job opportunities available here. The BJP government since 2012 has finished each and every business sector in Goa, including mining & tourism.
I also urge the Goa Board of Education (GBSHSE) to take a judicious view on this particular episode and not to fall for the pressure of select politicians demand. The GBSHSE should follow protocol, rules & guidelines and must refrain from indulging in politically motivated actions.
The BJP local leadership has always tried to politicise the educational system in Goa. The recent attempt to hold SSC examination was nothing but preparing ground for holding ZP elections in the testing times of Covid pandemic. This fact has become clear after hearing the statement of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho.
