Panaji: Final year engineering students along with NSUI had protested at Goa University on January 14. They demanded that since the mode of teaching was online the exams to be conducted in online mode. “The semester which was supposed to begin in July 2020 commenced in September 2020 in online mode. The portion that is taught over a period of five months was covered in three months instead. Moreover, many Covid cases were found on the campus of GEC, PCCE, AITD, DBCE hence students will be put in harm’s way if Offline exams are conducted” said the students of Engineering. The students also demanded that their exam time-table be altered because they have not been given enough days between papers to study.
Naushad Chowdhari NSUI President of North Goa who led the protest asserted, “On December 21, 2020 we had demanded Online exams for all Final year college students but consequently ABVP tried to divert the issue by asking for postponement of exams. NSUI demand is crystal clear that we want online exams and not merely potponement”. NSUI and Engineering students after meeting the Controller of Examinations (COE) inferred that COE has given them some relief in the sense that their time table will be altered to give them more days in between papers to study. “Engineering is a professional course hence these students need a gap of 2-3 days between papers to study, we thank Goa University for fulfilling this demand and providing students relief,” said Chowdhari
