Panaji: In a major boost to organ transplant initiative in Goa, State government has collaborate with a reputed institute from Barcelona for training doctors and nurses from the state on transplant procurement management.
State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that his department has collaborated with Donation and Transplantation Institute, Barcelona for conducting a live workshop to train doctors from Goa Medical College and Directorate of Health Services and nursing staff on transplant procurement management.
Rane said that the workshop which began on Monday (July 29) will be held for three days and in the initial phase, the institute will be conducting an intermediary training course on organ procurement, management and preservation techniques.
“Our aim through this program is to strengthen Goa’s cadaveric organ transplant program and increase voluntary organ transplant and donations,” the minister told reporters in Panaji.
He said that the program will benefit entire population of Goa.
