Panaji: Goa’s Apex Industries Association on Monday took potshots at the State government claiming that their apathy towards the industries continues, despite a new dispensation led by Chief minister Pramod Sawant is in place.
Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) President Damodar Kochkar, in a media statement issued here on Monday, said that government’s apathy towards the industries continues even in the aegis of the new government.
Kochkar has pointed out the issue of bad road conditions at Kundaim Industrial Estate in North Goa which continued despite the funds sanctioned for its repairs.
“GSIA had raised the issue of pathetic road conditions in various Industrial estates in November 2021, after which the then government had released Rs 5 crore out of Rs 10 crore budged to state-run Goa Industries Development Corporation (GIDC) for infrastructure improvement in the Industrial Estates,” he said.
Kochkar said that the work of road improvement of roads in Kundaim Industrial estate was supposed to be taken on priority which was delayed due to Code of Conduct imposed due to Goa Legislative Assembly election.
The GSIA chief said the workers from Kundaim Industrial Estate had resorted to rasta roko (road blockage) last year, which was withdrawn after assurance that the repairs would be taken up soon.
Kochkar said that it’s almost a month that the election process is over but the file for repairs is still moving at snail’s pace. “This is really sad that even after forming the new government in the state, Industries have to go through such hardships,” he added.
