Panaji: The activists of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee on Sunday protested at the controversial restaurant at Assagao, which is allegedly run by daughter of Union Minister Smruti Irani.
GPYC President Varad Mardolkar along with Congress Goa spokesman Amarnath Panjikar led the protest at Assagao village demanding to shut down the restaurant.
The protests were held at Silly Soul Restaurant which is under cloud for allegedly procuring the Excise Licence in the name of a dead person.
“You cannot run away from your responsibility by striking an emotional chord. You have to respond to the allegations against your daughter of renewing the licence of the restaurant in the name of a dead person,” he said.
Goa Excise department had issued show cause notice to the controversial restaurant returnable on July 29.
Panjikar said that Irani cannot hide behind the emotional statements and blame others. “we have to know the licence was granted to the restaurant by Excise department despite the fact that the applicant is dead,” he said.
The Congress leader said that Irani is holding Rahul Gandhi responsible for the illegalities done by her own family members. He said that the action should be initiated against the restaurant and those involved in the illegality.
