Goa Police seize drugs worth Rs 2.53 Crore, arrested a Nigerian citizen

Panaji: Goa Police’s Anti Narcotics Cell on late Wednesday night arrested a Nigerian national seizing drugs worth Rs 2.53 crore in North Goa.
Police spokesman said that this is the biggest seizure of drugs for the current year.

During the raid conducted on late Wednesday night , police arrested Chigozie Innocent Nzedigwe (24), a Nigerian national, who was out on bail after being arrested for similar offence since October, 2024.

Police said that drugs comprising of high grade cocaine and ecstasy powder worth Rs 2.53 crore was seized during the raid.

The official said that upon the release of the accused on bail, the Anti Narcotic Cell sleuths had kept a sharp vigil on his movements and activities through technical surveillance and human intelligence.

The raid was conducted at the premises taken on rent by the accused where they found 1.16 kgs of high grade cocaine worth Rs.2.32 Crores in the international market., and 106.2 grams of Ecstasy powder worth Rs.21.24 lakhs.

The two wheeler scooter used by the Nigerian to supply and distribute cocaine and ecstasy was also seized by the ANC.

The accused has been remanded to 07 days Police Custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Mapusa.
