Goa govt to form Advisory Board to monitor and improve services at GMCH

Panaji: Health minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday said that the Advisory Board of experts chaired by him will be constituted to monitor the functioning of Goa Medical College and Hospital and also bring its services par with the international standard.

Rane said that the board will have representatives from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, World Health Organisation – India, Government of India and top doctors who will be guiding to ensure that the services at the apex hospital is par with international standard.

He said that the Board will have State government’s Additional Secretary (Health) as its member secretary.

Rane said that the Advisory Board existed in the past for the GMCH. “We want to increase the efficiency of the hospital and provide good care for the patient with the ultimate objective of helping the poor and needy patients,” he said.

The minister said that the Advisory Board will further strengthen the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of providing international standard health care in all the states.

He said that the qualified doctors would be the part of the specialised medical care system while others would be sent for the training.

“It is important to have Advisory board with independent people on board along with the other agencies. The Board will also decide the SOP for the specialised treatments in the hospital,” he said.
