Goa celebrates Eid-Ul-Fitr indoors, prays for covid warriors

Panaji:  Muslims brethrens celebrated Eid-Ul Fitr by praying Namaz at their homes amidst COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

All the 100 Masjids in the state wore deserted look on this auspicious day as Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats had issued advisory urging people to stay indoors as a part of social distancing due to Coronavirus outbreak.

“Nearly 5,000-6,000 muslim brothers used to pray Namaz at the Masjid located at Betim near Panaji, but today there were none,” said Bashir Shaikh, President, Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats.

Shaikh said that the prayers were offered in the homes.

We had urged people that Namaz shall not be held at any masjids or Idgahs across the state of Goa.

“We had requested our brothers to offer ‘chasht namaz “Nafl” from their respective homes along with family members,” he said.

Shaikh said that we had appealed fellow brethren to follow the guidelines issued by MHA with regards to prohibitions to be followed during lockdown.
