Bambolim: Amidst rising number of COVID-19 cases, state’s apex hospital – Goa Medical College and Hospital – on Wednesday decided to introduce covid protocols in its facility.
State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane chaired a meeting of GMCH Heads of Departments to review Covid protocols and management of services in view of the rising cases. GMCH Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar was also present for the meeting.
Talking to reporters, Rane said that it was “collectively decided to resume the telephone service for booking Out Patient Department’s appointments.”
The meeting also decided to put up pandals outside the facility for seamless management of out-patients. “The number of patients’ relatives will also be restricted in view of the rising cases,” he said.
Rane said that the strict implementation of the SOPs will be taken up at GMCH.
The hospital located at the outskirt of Panaji had adopted all these SOPs last year after the COVID-19 outbreak, but had later withdrawn them after the number of positive cases reduced drastically.
