Panaji: Goa Forward Party vice president Atanasio Monserrate today tendered his resignation from the party membership and announced to contest the Panaji by-election as independent candidate.
The elections in Panaji are scheduled on May 19.
Monserrate, who had joined the party in July 2017, resigned after GFP made it clear that party would not like to contest from the constituency.
“I have resigned from GFP. They had asked me not to contest since the party is in alliance in the State government,” he said.
Former State Minister said that will contest the Panjim seat as independent candidate. “I will ask Congress for the support,” he said.
