Margao: Goa Forward Party on Wednesday demanded full time Governor for the State, claiming that there is no mechanism to complaint against the state government in absence of full time person.
B S Koshyari has been holding additional charge of Goa besides his posting as Maharashtra Governor.
GFP President Vijai Sardesai, addressing a press conference, said that the state government has been acting in a very autocratic manner compromising with the democratic interest of the state.
He alleged that the recent action of reservation of wards for the municipal elections and the High Court order setting aside the reservation process reflects the way BJP and its government is trying to hijack the elections.
Sardesai also pointed out that State Election Commissioner C R Garg is holding charge as State Law Secretary, which compromises the neutrality of the post that he is holding.
The GFP said that in absence of full time Governor, there is no mechanism in place to appeal against the “unjust” actions of the state government.
Reacting to the GFP statement, BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade told a press conference that opposition parties including GFP has been raising issues to grab attention.
“The opposition parties are creating grounds to justify their defeat in the municipal election,” he said.
