Margao: The Controversial Catholic Priest who had allegedly made statement against PM, BJP National President Amit Shah and former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar has tendered ‘unconditional apology’ after he was found guilty of violating Model Code of Conduct.

South Goa District Returning Officer Ajit Roy in an order issued here on Tuesday has said that Parish Priest of Our Lady of Snows Church Fr Conceicao D’Silva has admitted of making the statement during an inquiry conducted by Additional District Magistrate Agnelo Fernandes.

“The Parish Priest has admitted that he had made statement. However, he regrets it and has tendered his unconditional apology for hurting sentiments of general public,” Roy has said.

“As the priest has tendered unconditional apology, the apology has been accepted and has been strongly warned not to repeat such things in future and has been advised to confine himself to priestly duties as per customs and traditions, failing which strict action will be taken as per law,” the order reads.

“A humble call is given to all the religious leaders, sects, priests, community leaders, heads of associations, leaders of political parties, candidates and all the members of general public to refrain from making any hate speech, and or any aggressive statements which has potential to inflame communal or caste feelings and or making any appeal or cast or communal feelings and or using any places of religious worship  like mosques, churches, temples etc as a forum for election propoganda,” Roy has said.
