29 November 2024: Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera, along with its CSR Partner – Jollyboard Limited, Mumbai, donated an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine worth Rs 43 lakhs, to the South Goa District Hospital, Madgao, on 29 November 2024.
In 2023, Jollyboard Limited through R C Panaji Riviera had donated 3 critical diagnostic and laser treatment machine, worth Rs 35 lakhs, to the same Diabetic Retinopathy Centre. Last one year has seen more than 1000 Goan patients being diagnosed and treated for Retinopathy. With the addition of the latest OCT machine, the centre is now complete with all the required equipment. The Centre is now named as “Arvind Jolly Diabetic Retinopathy Centre, in memory of Late Arvind Jolly, the founder of Jollyboard Limited.
The Centre represents more than just medical equipment and services; it symbolizes HOPE. Diabetic retinopathy is a condition that, if left unchecked, leads to avoidable blindness. Having this centre in the heart of our community will not only transform lives but also prevent irreversible conditions, fulfilling a critical healthcare need.
I am especially proud that Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera has gifted the State of Goa its first Government Diabetic Retinopathy Centre where 400 needy patients on an average per month are benefiting from this centre. It aligns perfectly with Rotary International’s focus area of disease prevention and treatment and our District Governor Rtn. Sharad Pai’s thrust area of combating avoidable blindness. Arvind Jolly Diabetic Retinopathy Centre will save thousands of Goan Diabetic patients from losing their eye-vision. This initiative will also strengthen the medical infrastructure of our beloved state, a step towards a healthier Goa, informed Club President Rtn. Tanvi Attreya Sawant
