FDA shut down operation of a water bottling unit working under unhygienic condition

Mapusa:  FDA team comprising of Food Safety Officers SShri  Shivdas Naik, Rajaram Patil and Shailesh Shenvi, today shut down the operations of M/S Krishna Food and Beverages, operating from House no 279/1, Sakol Waddo, Assagao, Bardez-Goa.

 The said unit was found  manufacturing Packaged drinking Water without obtaining licence from the Directorate of Food and Drugs Admn, under Food Safety and Standards Act. Product was found  distributed to the various hotels in Mapusa and Calangute area.

The operation was being carried out in the unhygienic conditions by non-technical staff.

The person present at the site , Mr Shaitan Singh, informed FDA officials that the unit is owned by one Mr Ladu Ram and the house belongs to one Mr Rajendra Naik.

The Firm has been issued with notice under Section 31 of the Food Safety Act, for operating without license and also inspection notice for operating under unhygienic conditions and is directed to stop the operations forthwith and not to resume the activities till such time licence is obtained from this Directorate.

The material is seized and necessary further investigations will be carried out and legal action will follow.

Inspite of repeated appeals through the advertisements and awareness campaigns and through the media releases, Food Business operators (FBO )are found to operate without licences .

FDA once again warns all the FBO not to operate any food establishment unless licence or Registration Certificate is obtained from this Directorate. Violators will be booked under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
