Panaji: In his acceptance speech as the newly declared President of the Goa BJP, Damodar Naik appealed to party workers to refrain from airing internal disagreements publicly.

“Do not express your dissatisfaction on social media. BJP is like a family. We should resolve our differences within the organisation,” Naik said during the function held in Panaji to announce his appointment as the next BJP Goa President.

Naik addressed the gathering in the presence of senior party leaders, including national observer Sunil Bansal, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, and outgoing Goa BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, among others.

He urged workers to handle internal differences as they would in a family.
“We are a family. I know that we may disagree with each other at times, but eventually, we reconcile,” he stated.

Naik acknowledged that disagreements often arise during elections. “But we must have faith that the candidate selected by the party is the right one. You may not like the candidate, but don’t betray the party’s trust,” he added.

The newly elected president also called on workers to begin preparations for the 2027 Goa Legislative Assembly elections. “Our aim should be 27 in 2027,” he said, referring to the target of winning 27 seats in the upcoming elections.

Naik, a former MLA, has won elections twice from the Fatorda Assembly constituency in South Goa. Before his election as President, he served as the General Secretary of the party’s state unit.
