Panaji: Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has decided to impose fine of Rs 1 lakh on the vehicles who fail to register them with the department for transportation of minor minerals by installing Global Positioning System (GPS).
The department had clarified that transportation of minerals without registration and GPS would be termed as illegal, irrespective of necessary permits and other documents.
The vehicles have to register themselves upon payment of one time registration fee of Rs 5000 for transportation of minerals.
In a press statement issued today, DMG has reiterated compulsory registration of trucks carrying transporting minor minerals by installing GPS.
It has said that a fine amounting up to Rs one lakh will be imposed on those violating these instructions.
