Dept of Industries will put best foot forward: Health Min Rane on medical device park

Panaji: Thanking the Centre for the taking into
consideration the application of the proposal of the medical device park by the State, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the department of industries in the state will make its best attempt to make the proposed project successful that will help Goa grow its manifold.

“We are grateful to the Centre for giving us an opportunity to apply for the proposal of setting up a medical device park. Our Department of Industries will put our best foot forward to get this medical device park to the state of Goa which will help us grow manifold,” Rane wrote in a tweet on Thursday.

On Wednesday, chief minister Pramod Sawant had said that the proposal for setting up a medical device park at Verna has been placed before the Centre, adding that four states are eyeing for such a park.

The development cost for the proposed park is stated as approximately Rs 350 crore. The state expects Rs 100 crore as grant-in-aid from the Centre, which, will be 70% of the cost of the common infrastructure facilities, subject to a maximum of Rs 100 crore.

The medical device park is proposed with an aim to make Goa a healthcare hub vis a vis medical tourism and production of healthcare equipment go hand-in-hand.
