Porvorim: The curious case of Grih Adhar beneficiary who was pronounced as dead despite giving report of verification to the ICDS was brought on the floor of the House by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar.
The issue was raised before Women and Child Development Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Amonkar pointed out that he came across an application from his constituency who was sanctioned Griha Adhar as per the sanctioned order issued in September, 2023.
She was asked to report for Verification at ICDS Office Vasco, which she did and after that she received money for next three months upto January 2024 and then it Stopped.
When the money was not received for 3 months she inquired at GEL Counter and Women & Child Department Panaji and she was shocked to know that there is a remark saying Beneficiary Expired…as per some (DDSY/DAC) survey.
She was told at the office of the Department of Women & Child to write an application for resumption of benefit along with Income Certificate, Aadhar Card, Bank Account, Life Certificate, etc. which she did on 3/06/2024.
But still she has not received the money.
There may be many such cases. And it seems to be harassment to such beneficiaries who are made to run pillar to post.
Amonkar questioned based on which survey the beneficiary was termed as Expired when the beneficiary is still alive and living?
The MLA said Our Griha Aadhar applicants / beneficiaries have to travel all the way to Panaji to GEL office or Department of Women & Child comply to the remarks raised for which the benefits are stopped.
Sometimes they have to make more than one trip. Further even after meeting the compliance and submitting the documents, it takes months to release the or sanctioned benefits, he said.
