COVID19: Vishwajit Rane inspects screening facility at Goa Airport

Vasco: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday inspected the screening facility at Goa Airport to curb Coronavirus outbreak.

Rane along with State Health Director Jose De Sa, Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital Shivanand Bandodkar and Airport Director Gagan Malik inspected the screening facility during wee hours of Thursday.

Rane told reporters that the state is gearing up to screen all the domestic travelers who arrive at the airport. “There is a possibility that some Coronavirus infected patients may travel through domestic airlines. We want to screen all the travelers,” he said.

The health minister rubbished the allegations that Goa airport was ill-prepared to handle the screening facility. “All the precautions are taken. We are adopting pro-active measures to ensure that the screening is done as per the union health ministry’s guidelines,” he said.

Goa has no positive case of Coronavirus detected till date, while five patients remains to be quarantined at Goa medical college and hospital near here.
