Covid19: Goa govt to issue circular asking hotels and industries to take preventive measures: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji:  Following a circular from union ministry of Health and Family Welfare urging to cancel all the functions, Goa government will be issuing similar circular to all the hotels and industries asking them to take preventive measures, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.

Rane told reporters in Panaji on Friday that in the wake of circular issued by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on March 09, 2020 in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak in the country, Government of Goa will be issuing circular to all the hotels and all the industries to take precautions.

“The circular has to be adhered to strictly, with immediate effect,” the minister said.

The union ministry in its circular has said “in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak going on in the country, all the functions including seminars, workshops, conferences are to be cancelled. This is for urgent and necessary compliance.”

Back in Goa, Rane said that all the agencies including government needs to be proactive and take preventive action in view of the health of the people.

State government has set up isolation facilities at Goa medical college near here, Cottage Hospital at Chicalim (South Goa), TB Hospital in Margao (South Goa) and Primary Health Centre at Sankhalim (North Goa).

The state has currently quarantined three patients, all locals, for suspected of carrying coronavirus. Besides this, there are 36 patients who are on home quarantined.

Goa has not reported a single positive case.

Rane said that separate facility has already been set up, in case, any of the samples of suspects reports to be positive.
