Panaji: Congress party today requested Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to take rest and to recover fully to lead the State.

Addressing a press conference, Congress president Girish Chodankar requested Parrikar to take a break from the governance and appoint an alternative Chief Minister as an temporary measure.

“We all are aware about his health. And hence, on behalf of his well wishers would like to tell Chief Minister that his health is more important than government. The way he is playing with the health it is like suicidal tendency,” Chodankar said.

Chodankar said that it is the moral duty of BJP party to ask Parrikar to step down as Chief Minister until he recovers fully.

Chodankar said that Congress will fully support the new Chief Minister, if appointed for a time being, and will not oppose or protest just for the sake of targeting him.

Parrikar has been ailing since mid February. He underwent three month long treatment in USA before returning back last week.
