Panaji: Congress party today said that it is ready to hold dialogue with BJP leader Mahadev Naik for a strategy to defeat party defector during Shiroda by-elections, which are likely to take place next month.
Ex BJP Minister Mahadev Naik had on Wednesday said that he is ready to contest on Congress ticket from Shiroda for the upcoming by-elections against BJP’s Dayanand Sopte.
Congress chief spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said that party will hold dialogues with each and everyone include some of its former leaders, to ensure defeat of the defectors.
“But having dialogues or taking into confidence does not mean we will give anyone ticket or induct into party,” he promptly clarified.
Naik was party of Congress party between 1994-2002 before contesting election on BJP ticket in the year 2007. He was defeated by Sopte in 2017 assembly election.
