Panaji: Hours after Goa police handed over the case of missing body of footballer Januz Gonsalves to Crime branch for further investigation, the Congress party has demanded judicial probe through retired High Court judge in the matter.

Addressing media persons, Congress chief spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said that the organ trafficking racket cannot be ignored. “We demand judicial inquiry into the matter. Let a retired High Court judge conduct the investigation and submit report to government within one month,” he said.

Kawthankar said that crime branch, which is been handed over the case from Agassaim police, should also question Health Minister Vishwajit Rane in the case.

“We reiterate our demand that Rane should resign as Health Minister. His resignation would be a perfect apology to the Gonsalves family and not shedding crocodile tears,” he said.
