Panaji: Congress has reiterated their demand to ban the import of fish in the State. The party claimed that the decision of State government to appoint international agency smacks of corruption.

GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that the need of the hour is to ban import of the fish so that the confidence of people will be restored that they are not consuming formalin laced fish.

He said that the appointment of international agency smells of corruption. Chodankar also said that the appointment of international agency confirms the fear expressed by congress party that the fish is laced with formalin.

Chodankar questioned why international agency needs to be appointed when India has reputed scientists who have expertise in this field.
