Cong asks Guv to order Performance Report on corruption from Sawant-led govt

Panaji: Claiming that the corruption in Goa has reached all time high, Congress party in Goa on Sunday requested State Governor to order Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to release a “Performance Report” on corruption.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar alleged that the corruption in Goa has reached all time high since BJP came to power in 2012.

“Now, the Lokayukta has given a certificate to the BJP Government on Corruption. We request Governor of Goa Satyapal Malik to order Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to release a “Performance Report” on corruption,” he said.

Chodankar was referring to the recent letter by Goa Lokayukta Justice (Rtd) P K Misra expressing unhappiness over state government’s failure to file First Information Report (FIR) against former CM Laxmikant Parsekar and two other officers in connection with the illegal newal of the mining leases case.

“The Governor should also ask the Chief Minister to release the details of total number of reports given by the Lokayukta demanding inquiry in to various corruption issues and the action taken by the government on the same till date,” Chodankar said.

Listing out various issues, Chodankar said that State government is now planning to pay Rs. 123 Crores to the Special Economic Zone promoters which were actually cancelled by the Congress Government.

“The gross corruption in Infrastructure Development of National Games came to the fore with 300 tin sheets getting blown off last year from Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. The Scam in Lifeguards Contract is well known to all,” he said.

Chodankar said that the major scams in crores paid to Mahadayi Legal Team, Formalin Scam, Regional Plan and Converstions Scam, Investment Promotion Board Scam have helped the BJP Government to create a record in Scams and Scandals.

Chodankar said that the Lokayukta has now ordered inquiry of renewal of Mining leases and has submitted his second report to the Governor. “The Lokayukta had earlier ordered inquiry into Beach Cleaning and Cyber-age Scam however, the Government did not take any action,” he recalled.
