Panaji : Goa Youth Forward on Wednesday wrote a letter to Goa University Registrar asking to reconsider the University’s decision to permit colleges in conducting offline exams for engineering students. The exams for engineering students are to be held next month and the Youth Forward feels if exams are conducted in offline mode it will lead to transmission of Covid-19. Vice president of Goa Youth Forward Runal Kerkar inferred, “We don’t feel it is right to conduct exams in offline mode when we have an option to conduct them in online mode. Even if SOPs are issued, there is no clarity whether they will be followed with due care as it has also been observed that colleges are not following them. Even after taking precautions, there are chances of students getting infected by Covid more easily.”
The memorandum which was submitted to Goa university also said, “Even though colleges are open for practical’s majority students are seen attending them from home as students also do not feel safe to come to college in such a situation. Majority of the students use public transport to travel to their colleges. Hence they have more chances of getting exposed to Covid and thus transmitting it to their fellow classmate’s .Students have elderly parents and grandparents at home or younger siblings who are more prone to the Covid infection.”
