CM Sawant says police have acted strictly against incidents in the coastal belt

Porvorim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that night patrolling in the coastal belt has been intensified following a couple of recent incidents of violence.

Sawant mentioned that in the last two to three cases of violence in the coastal belt, all the accused have been arrested by local police.

The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting with State Home Department officials and urged them to tighten the system to prevent such incidents of violence from recurring.

He reiterated that night patrolling by police has been intensified in the coastal belt.

Sawant explained that usually, twenty percent of the staff from the respective police station is deployed on the night shift.

“But in the coastal belt police stations, an additional 20 percent, totaling 40 percent of the staff, will be on night duty,” he added.

The Chief Minister also stated that loud music in the coastal belt would be shut down after 10 PM, as per the rules, while those with indoor establishments will be allowed to play music according to their licensing regulations.
