CM Sawant gifts Laman Diva, Kunbi Saree to President, the First Lady

Dona Paula: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday met President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Raj Bhavan.

Kovind has arrived in Goa on Saturday on his two-day-long visit. The President had participated in the event to commemorate 60 years of Liberation of Goa on December 19.

The chief minister accompanied by his wife, Sulakshana, met the President at Raj Bhavan on Sunday morning. State Governor B S Koshyari was also present during the occasion.

After meeting the President, Sawant tweeted “As a token of love from Goans, presented the Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji and the First Lady Smt Savita Kovind, a Laman Diva and Kunbi Saree that signifies the identity, culture and rich history of Goa.”

Laman Diva is a brass lamp which is installed in front of sanctum sanctorum in the Hindu Homes while Kunbi Saree  is used in the traditional dressing style of Goa.

The President of India will culminate his visit to the state on Sunday evening.
