CM Pramod Sawant says patriotism is declining amongst youth

Panaji : Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant rued that the spirit of nationalism is declining amongst the youth in the country.

Addressing state level function on Independence Day, Sawant said that the spirit of patriotism is must amongst the youth, which we see is declining in the current generation. “we need to inculcate this spirit in the youth so that everyone contributes for the work of nation building,” he said.

The chief minister unfurled tri colour at Old Secretariat building in Panaji city in presence of several dignitaries. He inspected Guard of Honour before addressing the gathering.

“Every youth should come forward on his own and contribute for the society and also for the development of the nation which is essential step towards creating New India, that is envisioned by prime minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

Sawant recalled that 14 years after india got independence, Goa was liberated due to which this part of the country joined the mainstream belated. “But we have managed to keep up pace with country’s development,” he said recalling the contribution of state’s first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar and late Manohar Parrikar.

“We are indebted to late Bandodkar and late Parrikar who laid foundation for the Goa of current times,” he said.

Sawant committed to give corruption-free governance in the state which will be pro-development and also reaching out to the last person in the row. He claimed himself to be servant of the people and also appealed all the government employees to remember that they are there to serve the citizens.
