Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday met Archbishop of Goa and Daman Rev Fr Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao ahead of the exposition of relics of St Francis Xavier scheduled to be held in November, this year.
Sawant held meeting with the Archbishop and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa & Daman, Rt. Rev Simiao Purificacao Fernandes to discuss the preparations for the decennial exposition of the relics of St Francis Xavier that would be held from November 21 for next 45 days.
Talking to reporters, Sawant said that the state government has already formed a committee to oversee the preparations for the exposition. He said that during his meeting with the Archbishop he took his advice on the exposition.
He said that this is one of the biggest event of the country with international and national guests scheduled to arrive.
Sawant said that during his recent meeting with Prime minister Narendra Modi, he had requested that the central government should extend invitation to Pope Francis to attend the decennial exposition.
He said that the committee of the exposition will once again meet, after the monsoon session of the Assembly which culminated in mid-August.
The chief minister said that the prominent guests including Archbishops from other regions would be attending the event for whom the arrangements would have to be made.
