Panaji: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Goa MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of indulging into political gimmick through their oximeter campaign.
AAP has launched “Oximitra” campaign in the State covering majority of the assembly constituencies checking oxygen level amongst the population in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing a press conference, Alemao questioned the wisdom behind such a campaign.
“It is nothing but an election gimmick. What is the use of checking oxygen level? Supposedly, if you find oxygen level is less, what can they do?,” he commented.
Alemao suggested that Arvind Kejriwal-led party should provide ventilators and help in getting oxygen to the various health facilities where COVID-19 patients are treated.
The MLA, who has himself recovered from the infection, alleged that there is scarcity of Oxygen in the health facilities across the state.
Reacting to Alemao’s statement, AAP Convener Rahul Mahambrey said that the statement of MLA is “laughable.”
“Oximeters are a proved tool globally to combat Corona. If Alemao does not know to help people suffering from COVID-19, he should at least stop commenting,” he said.
