Panaji: AAP which is opposed to adoption of monuments by corporates and has been vocal in criticising the decision to give the Red Fort to Dalmiyas said that greed of politicians of the BJP, Congress and their common partners had reached menacing proportions and had completely overtaken governance in the state.
AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said that claims by some ministers of ignorance about the adoption scheme showed that decisions for them were taken by someone else leaving them to belatedly realise and run for cover. Reacting to the reported statement made by the ‘Church’ supporting the scheme, Gomes said the Church representatives who have agreed to should first explain to the people the exact nature of the scheme and how beneficial it is to the Church in particular and the people in general. He said that they must also disclose the reasons told to them for not taking them into confidence at the initial stage itself when the whole thing was cooking up behind a veil of secrecy, between the interested corporates , union ministry and the Goa Government. Gomes said that it was surprising that just in one single meeting with Government officials, the representatives of the Church understood the scheme so well which the Goa ministers themselves claimed to be ignorant about.
“It’s all about the incompetence of this government as it has now admitted that it is not capable to take care of even monuments and is offering them to adoption. AAP suggests that instead of allowing corporates to run businesses under the garb of adoption of monuments the people should claim the first right to engage local people to do the same job sought to be done by corporates and the church could just be the right institution to do that” said Gomes
AAP also said that not satisfied with the gratifications on land deals, and the clandestine sale of rivers to corporates under the cover of nationalisation, the Centre has allowed take over of monuments. AAP also said that the opposition MLA’s have a lot of answering to do about their own complete silence on all the wrongs inflicted on Goa.
