Chimbel: As the number of COVID-19 cases at Chimbel has raised worries of massive catastrophe, local MLA Tony Fernandes has said that govenrmnet has agreed for mass testing to control the situation.
Fernandes said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has assured that mass testing of the people in Chimbel area would be undertaken to control any further spread.
Existence of Goa’s one of the biggest slum area at IndiraNagar Chimbel has raised worries for the authorities.
Fernandes said that the testing facility has been set up at Providoria building where people can get themselves voluntarily tested.
Local Chimbel Panchayat has also called for an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the situation.
Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolienkar said that the members will decide on future course of action.
He said that mass testing should be conducted as people are in a state of panic and anxiety.
