Capital city to be under surveillance of 450 CCTV cameras from June

Panaji: The capital city of Panaji will soon come under surveillance, with as many as 450 CCTV cameras to be installed across as part of Goa Intelligent City Management System (GICMS) under the Smart City Mission.

Expected to be operational in the next month, the command and control centre will cover the entire city right upto Dona Paula with surveillance cameras, and will be integrated with the Corporation of the City of Panaji’s garbage management system and the Goa police control room.

Speaking to reporters, Director of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) Sidharth Kuncalienkar said that the intelligent city management system will be the backbone for the integrated command and control centre (ICCC), which is being developed under the Smart City Mission.

He said that IPSCDL will issue work order for 450 CCTV cameras from Panaji to Dona Paula costing Rs 180 crore. “Currently we have started on trial basis on the 18juneroad,” he said.

Under the mission, as many as 4000 parking slots will be created, wherein citizens can book their parking slot in advance through a special app.
