Panaji: Goa Police will file chargesheet in connection with a rape on British woman at Canacona in the end of this month, a senior officer said.
A 48-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 31-year-old Y Ramchandran, from Tamil Nadu, during the wee hours of December 21 on her way to Palolem beach.
The accused had ran away with the belongings of the victim after raping her by pushing her into a paddy field.
Canacona Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said that several witnesses have been examined in this case and there is prima facie evidence against the accused.
“The charge-sheet in the case would be filed by end of this month as some evidences has been sent for scientific examination,” he said.
The Inspector said that the case against the accused is water tight with at least seven witnesses providing circumstantial evidence in it.
The accused after raping the woman had fled from Canacona but was arrested from a hotel in Margao town, 60 kms away from the scene of offence.
