Panaji: Hours after a group of Bhandari Samaj led by Sanjiv Naik announced their private census, Samaj President Devanand Naik accused Upendra Gaonkar, who headed Naik’s committee, of usurping the funds.

Addressing the press conference, Devanand said that Upendra Gaonkar had been expelled from the organisation for siphoning off funds to the tune of Rs 9 lakh five years ago.
He said that a formal complaint had been filed against him at the Panaji police station. Devanand mentioned that the Samaj would move to the court seeking an FIR to be filed against Upendra Gaonkar.

He also warned that the caste certificates signed by Upendra would be invalid as he does not hold any position in the organisation.

Devanand stated that if anyone submits a certificate signed by Upendra, action would be initiated against them for producing fake certificates.
