Panaji: Taking strong objection to the statement of former Social welfare Minister and AAP leader Mahadev Naik that Bhandari Samaj is with his party, the working president of Goa Forward Party Kiran Kandolkar has said that former should not take samaj for granted and stop doing politics over it.
“The statement of Mahadev Naik is wrong. In past Mahadev Naik has tried to put rift in Bhandari Samaj, then how come our samaj will be with him.” Kandolkar questioned.
“Ashok Naik is president of Bhandari Samaj. He along with other committee members have right to decide to whom they will support and not Mahadev Naik.” He said.
Recalling the event, when he along with former MLA Lavu Mamledar and then MLA Vishnu Wagh had played vital role to take reservation from 19 to 27 per cent, Kandolkar said that Mahadev Naik had failed to implement the reservation correctly. “Mahadev Naik has failed to give justice to Bhandari Samaj. Hence, he should not try to derive political mileage out of his statement.” Kandolkar asserted.
“There are 19 castes in Bhandari Samaj. Actually quota within quota should be population wise. We are getting just one and half percent reservation if we consider all 19 castes. Hence I demand with BJP government to make reservation as per population of each caste.” Kandolkar demanded.
He said that if government fails to implement it, then they (Bhandari Samaj) will be forced to stage agitation likewise ‘Maratha reservation agitation happened in Maharashtra,
He also urged Bhandari Samaj office bearers to take the issue of Quota within Quota with the government.
