Panaji: The Bhandari Community leaders on Tuesday evening met in Panaji city to discuss about its forthcoming organizational election. Ashok Naik has been supported as the next head of the community, which has sizeable presence in the State.
While media reports suggested that the meeting discussed and unanimously resolved that the Bhandari Community leader should be made as next Chief Minister, the leaders have refused the news.
For the meeting the political leaders including BJP’s Shripad Naik, Dayanand Sopte, Dayanand Mandrekar, Dilip Parulekar, Kiran Kandokar, Damodar Naik, Dattaprasad Naik, GFP’s Vinod Palyekar, Jayesh Salgaoncar, Congress’ Ravi Naik were present. GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar who was supposed to attend could not do it due to his busy scheduled but has given entire support to the cause.
One of the community leader Dattaprasad Naik said that the meeting did not discuss politics as the leaders from across the political spectrum were present.
On asked about his personal opinion, Dattaprasad said that Shripad Naik, being second top leader after Parrikar in BJP, should be given a chance to be next CM.
“He is not just the leader of Bhandari community but he is a tall leader having acceptability across all the communities,” he said.
