Panaji: State government through a circular has banned usage of single-use plastic in all its offices, meetings and functions from October 2 onwards.
“All the offices are herby directed to discontinue use of single use plastic water bottles, glasses, plates, etc and to use items or equipments which are eco-friendly and re-usable to provide water and other items in the offices, meetings and functions of the government,” Under secretary General Administration Shripad Arlekar said.
He has further directed that single use plastic water bottles, glasses, plates shall also not be used in government canteens.
“Circular is issued with the approval of Chief Minister,” he said.
