Asked All the HODs of Goa Medical College to Report to Duty: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji: State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said that he has asked all the Heads of Departments (HODs) of Goa Medical College and Hospital to report to duty to ensure coordinated care for those injured in the temple stampede.

Rane said that approximately 80 people sustained injuries, with 13 currently admitted at Goa Medical College, of whom five are critical and on ventilator support, while the remaining are being treated in a specially created emergency ward.

“Our emergency helpline 104 is active and receiving several calls from those affected by the Shirgao Zatra incident. I am personally monitoring the situation at GMC. All Heads of Departments have been directed to report to duty to ensure coordinated care,” the Health Minister said.

He added, “Our medical teams are working round-the-clock, and I am receiving regular updates from the doctors. Every aspect of the situation is being closely monitored to ensure a timely and effective response.”
