Panaji: The Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) today slammed government for failing to ensure protection of the rape survivor in the Babush Monserratte case.
The minor girl has apparently gone missing from the rehabilitation centre, where she was staying.
GSM leader Hridaynath Shirodkar said that if government is in no position to ensure safety of the rape survivor, how will he protect other women? “Women are not safe under BJP in Goa,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Shirodkar said that CM is busy holding corner meetings for Panaji by-election to ensure his candidate wins but has neglected the State.
“The girl went missing on April 28 and the police registered complaint on May 10. This shows that government and police were completely in dark about the incident,” Shirodkar added.
“She is alleged victim in the rape case filed against Monserratte. There is some setting between BJP and Monserratte. Government wants to give protection to Monserratte,” he added.
