Margao: In an another act before God, 15 Margao Municipal Councillors belonging to BJP and Digambar Kamat group swore before God at Zambaulim that they voted for their official candidate during recently held election.
It was obvious that five of them lied as the candidate had polled only 10 votes.
Sources stated after humiliating defeat for BJP and Digambar Kamat groups at MMC election which saw Vijai Sardesai supported Ghanashyam Shirodkar getting elected, Kamat had paraded all the 15 councillors before the chief minister on Friday.
After the parade, all the councilors went to Zambaulim Temple to swear before God that they did not cross vote. Interestingly, all the 15 councillors swore that they did not cross vote. This also means that five of them had lied as the official candidate had polled only 10 votes while rest five were transferred to Shirodkar.
