Nuvem: Desperate attempts to get Congress ticket in Nuvem for former minister Aleixo Sequeira are likely to hit dead end.
The former minister has been on the forefront projecting himself in the constituency through hoardings and had even resorted to one day long ration distribution drive to impress Goa desk incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Sources in the party stated that Sequeira who had disappeared from the political and social scene for last few years have been lobbying hard for the ticket.
But his reduced popularity in the constituency seems to be a major hindrance in this constituency. BJP MLA Wilfred D’Sa is currently ruling the constituency, which has sizeable Congress voting base.
Aam Admi Party also has managed to make inroads in the constituency while there is also presence of NCP.
D’Sa’s shift to BJP from Congress seems to be one of the reason why this constituency is looked upon as a winnable seat by many political parties.
But the leaders within the Congress party claim that they need a new face to contest here rather than putting their weight behind Sequeira.
