Panaji: The All Goa Merchants Association’s United Forum (AGMAUF) in a press conference declared that a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant giving him suggestions to frame new laws under Municipalities Act. The Municipalities (amendment) Ordinance which came out on 22nd December 2020 was met with much criticism as the merchants believed that it would prove detrimental to their business.
After the merchants community threatened to go on a bandh the Chief Minister met the merchants assuring them that the current act would be kept in abeyance. AGMAUF has suggested many amendments with respect to rent and lease. AGMAUF also inferred that CM would discuss these amendments in the assembly and pass the Act which will help the traders in ease of business.
