Panaji : Indian Meteorological Department Goa has issued an orange warning in the state from from 13th to 17th June. It was forecasted by IMD, Goa in its bulletin dated 8th July that a low pressure area may form over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and rainfall activity is very likely to increase over Goa from around 10th July.
“As on 13th July, though the above mentioned low pressure area has
become less marked, with following systems present, the increased rainfall activity is very likely to continue over Goa upto around 17th July,” informed IMD.
The warnings are issued based on latest observations and numerical weather prediction model guidance. Please be regularly updated with the latest
warnings and forecasts issued by IMD in the coming days.
Today panaji city saw flooding in areas of Patto, 18th June road while some parts of Old Goa also witnessed waterlogging.
In these three days IMD has informed that there is a likelihood of Localized inundation/flooding of low lying areas and urban areas; Possible uprooting of weak trees and collapse of weak structures; Landslide/Mudslides and Rock falls in vulnerable areas; Disruption to road, rail, air and ferry transport; Longer disruption of municipal services (Water, electricity etc.); Rise of water level in rivers and canals; Some communities and islands temporarily cutoff /not accessible; Damage to crops due to water inundation; Squally weather expected along and off the coast; Rough Sea conditions along the coast
and Possibility of flash flood in ghat areas.
