Panaji: Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Thursday announced that they would be projecting a candidate from Bhandari community as chief ministerial face during upcoming Goa election.

AAP leader and Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told a press conference in Panaji that Bhandari community candidate will be face of chief minister for upcoming Goa elections.

He said that deputy chief minister would be from Christian community.

Sisodia said that Bhandari community, which makes for sizeable population in the state, has always been ignored while giving representation in the government.

He pointed out that in the entire history of Goa, post liberation, only once a Bhandari leader has become chief minister and that too for a short tenure of two and half years.

“We want to give representation to Bhandari community in the Assembly,” he said adding that Christian community will also be given due importance in the cabinet by inducting on the chair of deputy chief minister.

Sisodia said that all the communities will be give representation by the AAP’s Goa cabinet. He said that AAP has been increasingly getting acceptance in Goa with people from all the communities rallying behind the party.
